ST. PAUL, Minnesota, March 21, 2024 – The political action committee of Education Minnesota has endorsed Dwayne Voegeli, a high school social studies teacher in Winona, for District 26A in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Educators from the southeastern Minnesota district screened multiple candidates before recommending Voegeli. The Education Minnesota PAC board accepted the recommendation and endorsed Voegeli earlier this week.

“Students need more advocates at the Capitol with first-hand experience in Minnesota’s classrooms,” said Denise Specht, president of Education Minnesota. “Dwayne Voegeli has the right experience in public schools and in government, good character and a good sense of what public education needs from the Legislature.”

Voegeli is running as a member of the DFL for an open seat formerly held by longtime state legislator Gene Pelowski, who is retiring. Voegeli is currently the chair of the Winona County Board of Commissioners.
