
The “We Are One” Solidarity Award is given annually to an Education Minnesota local union or active member demonstrating outstanding or significant leadership in any of the following ways:
- Developing and implementing an organizing campaign.
- Expanding relationships with other unions and the AFL-CIO.
- Developing and implementing a member engagement campaign.
- Working collectively for the common good.
- Protecting or advocating for workers’ rights.
- Extending the benefits of a union by organizing the unorganized.
Nomination process:
- The Education Minnesota president will set and announce the nomination timelines and process to the Education Minnesota Governing Board. Nominations will open on or the closest business day after Dec. 1 and will close on or the closest business day after Jan. 31.
- Timelines and process will be posted on Education Minnesota’s website.
- Past recipients will be posted on the website and part of the nomination materials.
- Any Education Minnesota member can nominate a local union or active member by submitting a nomination form to the Education Minnesota president.
Selection process:
- Using the established criteria, the nomination form should list the name of the Education Minnesota local union or active member and the reason(s) the candidate should be considered for the award.
- A subcommittee of the Education Minnesota Governing Board will review the submitted nominations and make a final selection. Nomination forms must be received by 11:59 pm on Jan. 31.
- The subcommittee will use the criteria to make their selection. They will be given a list of past recipients.
- The “We Are One” Solidarity Award winner will be announced at the Education Minnesota Representative Convention.
Criteria:
The following criteria will be considered:
- Must be an Education Minnesota local union or an active member during the selection
- Has made outstanding or significant leadership in any of the following ways:
- Developing and implementing an organizing campaign.
- Expanding relationships with other unions and the AFL-CIO.
- Developing and implementing a member engagement campaign.
- Working collectively for the common good.
- Protecting or advocating for workers’ rights.
- Extending the benefits of a union by organizing the unorganized.
