ST. PAUL, Minnesota. March 21, 2025 – Education Minnesota continues its advocacy for educators and students through a series of new advertisements featuring members of the union that will air on digital platforms starting Monday, March 24, and on broadcast and cable television starting March 31.
The major purpose of the ad campaign, which is planned to run for six weeks, is to call on Minnesotans to support better pay, secure pensions and improved health care for Minnesota’s educators, especially as the White House abandons public education as a national priority.
In the wake of President Donald Trump issuing an executive order to shut down the U.S. Department of Education, these new ads will emphasize that Minnesotans need to stand up for what is most important to us, including the schools that support all our students and the educators who guide them.
“Providing a great public education to every Minnesota student, no matter where they’re from, what they look like or how they learn, is up to every Minnesotan now,” said Denise Specht, president of Education Minnesota. “As the educators in these ads say, it’s up to us to protect what really matters — because as Minnesotans, we take care of each other, especially when Washington won’t.”
The campaign will include spots on social and digital media platforms and on broadcast and cable television outlets statewide. The ads are the latest phase of the union’s “Believe in We” campaign that began in March 2017.
“This campaign signals that it’s time for lawmakers and all Minnesotans to tackle the biggest challenge facing Minnesota’s schools: the severe staffing crisis,” Specht said. “The best ways to fix it are by improving the pay, pensions and health care of educators. That’s how our state attracts and retains more educators, lowers class sizes and improves outcomes. These ads drive that home in a dramatic way through the voices of those educators.”
The advertising campaign videos will be available on Education Minnesota’s YouTube page, and more information will be featured on the campaign’s website www.BelieveInWeMN.com.
