 Minnesota school districts and educators have returned to federal court to stop immigration enforcement activity on and near schools and higher education campuses. 

Nearly three of four educators in Education Minnesota said in a new poll that they were directly or indirectly affected by Operation Metro Surge, suggesting a massive disruption in learning for tens of thousands of Minnesota students in the middle of the 2025-26 school year. 

Education Minnesota has endorsed Doug Chapin in Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District and Erik Osberg in the 7th Congressional District. 

Education Minnesota announced it has endorsed 54 more candidates for the Minnesota Legislature and a candidate for state auditor, in the union’s latest round of endorsements this election cycle. 

Education Minnesota announced that its political action committee has endorsed 99 candidates for the state Legislature, including nine professional educators who are members of the union.

Today’s arrests are deeply troubling, both because they involve ordinary Minnesotans — including at least one educator and union member — and because they represent the latest chapter in a federal operation that has repeatedly divided communities and raised serious questions about civil liberties, transparency and accountability.
