Where and what do you teach?
Bloomington Jefferson High School, Social Studies
What issue are you most looking forward to working on as a Governing Board member?
As a Governing Board member, I’m really looking forward to working on creating learning environments where every student feels safe and welcomed, no matter their background or needs. I want to champion policies that promote equity for both students and educators—ensuring fair compensation, meaningful professional development, and working conditions that help everyone succeed. What excites me most is the chance to bring families, communities, and educators together to build the kind of future we all want for our kids.
What is your favorite thing about being an educator?
My favorite thing about being an educator is watching students not only gain confidence and develop skills that extend far beyond classroom content, but also seeing how they thrive when they know someone truly cares about their success. What really fulfills me is witnessing their growth journey and then seeing where life takes them after they leave my classroom—it’s incredibly rewarding to know I played a small part in helping them reach their potential.
Outside of the classroom, what’s something you like to do?
Outside of the classroom, I really enjoy spending time at the lake—there’s something refreshing about being on the water that helps me recharge. I also love playing tennis, which keeps me active and competitive, and I prioritize spending quality time with family and friends since those relationships are what matter most to me.
How have you worked in union to overcome a professional challenge?
When a complex challenge arose affecting multiple departments, I brought together key stakeholders from each area to collaboratively address the issue. I facilitated working sessions where each party could share their concerns and constraints, then guided the group to focus on shared goals rather than individual positions. By ensuring everyone had input in developing the solution, we created a comprehensive approach that addressed all parties’ needs and strengthened cross-departmental relationships
