Where and what do you teach?
Milaca High School, Math
What issue are you most looking forward to working on as a Governing Board member?
- Pension Reform so that our retirement is equitable and fair for all educators and
- Establishing a statewide health insurance plan that all educators take part so costs are minimized.
What is your favorite thing about being an educator?
Knowing that what we do can have long term, lasting, and deep changes emotionally, financially, physically and mentally to students, families and communities. Seeing this powerful change over 30 years in teaching and coaching is my favorite.
Outside of the classroom, what’s something you like to do?
I referee basketball and umpire baseball games at the high school and college level. I golf and like do volunteer work.
How have you worked in union to overcome a professional challenge?
I happen to have been involved with an incident with our local senator while attending lobby day in 2023. This event challenged me to the point that I could no longer be someone that accepted the ridicule and attacks from people who did not know who I am. I decided this was my time to step up and lead. Every opportunity I have, I will try to make myself be ‘in the room where it happened’ so that I can say, “I did my best to make things better.”
