Aug. 5-6
River’s Edge Convention Center, St. Cloud

Enhance your personal and professional skills at our revamped Summer Leadership Conference.

Summer Leadership Conference is different from our Summer Seminar of years past, with an emphasis on relationship building and shared experiences in a cohort structure. Come as an individual – or as a team – to develop or enhance your union leadership skills.

Participants choose one leadership strand for the duration of the conference. Each strand will dive deeply into a focused content area and provide members with the opportunity to learn from and connect with fellow union members.

  • Is there an admission fee?
No, the conference is free of charge. Registration includes Tuesday lunch, Tuesday “heavy” appetizers, Wednesday breakfast and Wednesday lunch. Any other meals (e.g., while traveling) are the responsibility of participants.
  • Where can I stay?
Education Minnesota has an event group rate of $119 per room at the Best Western Plus Kelly Inn conveniently connected to the River’s Edge Convention Center.  Education Education Minnesota will pay for the cost of one (1) double occupancy room per local and an additional one (1) room for a local that sends an ethnic minority to the conference. Members must make their own hotel reservations, and rooms designated for Education Minnesota payment will be moved to Education Minnesota billing prior to the conference. A personal credit card will be required at check in for incidentals. Individuals/locals that need assistance with hotel reservations should email rob.gardner@edmn.org.

  • What is the difference between Summer Seminar of years past and Summer Leadership Seminar?
Instead of choosing from a variety of individual sessions, you will select one leadership strand as your primary focus. This new format allows for an extended period working within a cohort on a focused area and additional time to build meaningful connections with fellow educators.
  • Can teachers earn continuing education credit at the conference?
You will receive a certificate of completion via the email you registered with detailing continuing education clock hours at the completion of your pathway. Your local continuing education committee determines whether to approve the credit.
