ST. PAUL, Minn. Jan. 17, 2018 – Education Minnesota’s political action committee has endorsed Washington County Commissioner Karla Bigham of Cottage Grove in her campaign for the Minnesota Senate in District 54.

After meeting with Bigham on Jan. 11, a screening committee of east metro educators recommended the endorsement to board of Education Minnesota’s political action committee. The PAC board accepted the recommendation and voted to endorse Bigham on Wednesday.

“The first step in making a good decision about public education is to listen to the people most affected – educators, parents and students,” said Denise Specht, president of Education Minnesota. “Karla Bigham knows how to listen and she knows how to lead. She will be a strong advocate for her district, and her state, in the Minnesota Senate.”

Bigham is running as a member of the DFL in the special election on Feb. 12 to replace Sen. Dan Schoen, who resigned amid allegations of sexual harassment. Bigham is a former state representative and a former member of the Cottage Grove City Council.
