ST. PAUL, Minn. Jan. 30, 2018 – Education Minnesota’s political action committee has endorsed south Minneapolis resident Bonita Jones, a former elementary school teacher and current Minneapolis Federation of Teachers representative, in her campaign for the Minnesota House in District 62B.
After meeting with Jones on Jan. 27, a screening committee of Minneapolis educators recommended the endorsement to the board of Education Minnesota’s political action committee. The PAC board accepted the recommendation and voted to endorse Jones Monday.
“Now more than ever, we need advocates with firsthand classroom experience in the state Legislature,” said Denise Specht, president of Education Minnesota. “Minneapolis students and families could not have a better champion than Bonita Jones. She has dedicated her professional life to Minneapolis public schools, and she will fight for the opportunities, programs and services Minneapolis students need – things like full-service community schools, affordable housing, a living wage and family stabilization services.”
Jones is running as a member of the DFL leading up to precinct caucuses Feb. 6 and the DFL endorsing convention March 10.
