ST. PAUL, Minn. Jan. 24, 2018 – The political action committee of Education Minnesota has voted to endorse Julie Blaha's campaign for state auditor.
"Educators live in cities and towns that depend on accurate financial audits, and we all want to know our tax money is spent correctly," said Denise Specht, president of Education Minnesota. "We are happy to endorse Julie Blaha because she has the values and the leadership experience to give local leaders the information they need to make good decisions."
Blaha, DFL, is a former math teacher and former president of Anoka-Hennepin Education Minnesota, one of the largest Education Minnesota locals in the state. She currently serves as secretary-treasurer of the Minnesota AFL-CIO.
On Friday, Blaha met face-to-face with more than 70 members of Education Minnesota and then took questions from educators during a Q&A session broadcast on Facebook. On Saturday, she met with the board members of the political action committee, which voted to endorse her campaign. The executive committee of Education Minnesota ratified the endorsement Tuesday evening.
