ST. PAUL, Minn., March 24, 2015 – Education Minnesota President Denise Specht released the following statement in response to budget targets released Tuesday by House Republican leaders.
“Minnesota has made significant investments over the past two years to help all students – from our earliest learners to beyond high school – succeed. It’s disappointing that House Republicans would rather focus on tax cuts than investing in our students,” Specht said.
“With a nearly $1.9 billion surplus, Minnesota is in a prime position to build on that progress and make real investments in real solutions that improve the lives of our students, teachers and communities. Let’s focus on what works, like expanding public preschool programs, investing in teacher development and training, making college affordable for working families, and creating more full-service community schools to meet the needs our students bring to their schools every day.”
