Kids in Need partnership
The Education Minnesota Community Outreach Committee regularly volunteers at the Twin Cities Kids in Need Resource Center in Roseville, where teachers from high-poverty schools can shop for free supplies.
Committee members help out this nonprofit organization by unpacking, sorting, counting and organizing donated school supplies.
MEA book drive
Donate new and gently used books for children and youth at the MEA conference book drive!
We also collect school supplies and monetary donations for the Twin Cities Kids in Need Resource Center, where teachers from high-poverty schools can shop for free supplies. Bring donations to the Education Minnesota Community Outreach Committee booth in the Rotunda.
Representative Convention food bank drive
At each Representative Convention, the Community Outreach Committee collects toiletries, food and funds to support Second Harvest Heartland and VEAP (Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People).
Delegates are encouraged to bring items and money to donate.
Summer Seminar school supplies drive
Each year, the Education Minnesota Community Outreach Committee collects school supplies and/or cash/checks at Summer Seminar for children in need. The school supplies are then distributed to children on tribal reservations across Minnesota.
